Ian Chard – technical writer and journalist

Ian is a freelance editor, technical writer and journalist (visit www.techjourn.com for more information) with ten years experience working on technical and trade magazines. He has performed a number of editorial roles and has extensive knowledge of the information and communications technology sector, as well as considerable experience of the publishing industry.

Ian’s specialist areas include mobile / wireless and networking technologies, Professional Mobile Radio (PMR) and Biometrics, as well as web copywriting and Search Engine Optimization (SEO). In addition to providing freelance writing and editorial services, he has acted as a consultant for prospective editorial projects undertaken by a number of leading vendors.

As a freelance journalist, Ian has written feature articles for b2b titles in the ICT sector including Capacity, IT Week and Telecommunications International. He has also undertaken specialist supplement projects that entailed conceptualising, writing and editing business briefing supplements and technical papers. Examples of his work can be seen here.

Previous to his freelance role, Ian was editor at Kadium Ltd., and was responsible for the editorial content and design of the company’s four successful trade magazines: Eastern European Wireless Communications; Southern African Wireless Communications; Northern African Wireless Communications and Networking+ (the latter being a UK business to business title for ICT professionals). He was closely involved with the launch of Northern African Wireless Communications and also responsible for the implementation of editorial policy.

Ian holds a 2:1 Joint Honours degree in Broadcasting and English.
